Most domestic banks will provide mobile banking services at the upcoming SEA Games’ venues as the Central Bank of Myanmar has given them the green light to do so, bank executives said.
Mobile units will include currency-exchange counters and ATMs, they said, adding that the ATMs will operate around the clock during the 11-22 December Games.
Kanbawza Bank (KBZ) plans to open 10 mobile units at sporting venues during the Games, its manager Aung Nanda Kyaw said.
Ohn Thein Myint, an assistant manager at Co-operative Bank (CB), said its mobile units will include ATMs, point of sale terminals and currency-exchange counters.
All ATM cards from the 17 banks that are members of the Myanmar Payment Union can be used at the ATMs. Banks like KBZ and CB also allow access to international accounts as well as Visa and MasterCard. Cards issued by banks recognized by the Japan Credit Bureau will have access to all MPU ATMs from next month.
