People are mainly looking for accommodation in Yangon’s suburbs and outskirts, according to a popular property website.
House.com.mm, run by the German-based firm Lamudi, said the most visited townships online were north Dagon Myothit, Thanlyin, Mingalardon, Hmawbi, Insein, South Okkalapa and Hledan.
“The property market is difficult in the downtown areas. The rents are skyrocketing. Traffic jams mean people’s commutes are taking longer and the real estate prices have soared. Many people have explored the real-estate lists in these townships on our website,” said Aung Min Htet, head of PR at House.com.mm.
The real estate prices in South Okkalapa, North Okkalapa, Mingalardon and Shwepyithar, in the seventh- and eighth-mile zones, ranges from Ks 10 million to Ks 250 million. In downtown, Dagon and Mingala Taungnyunt townships take a lead in apartment rent, ranging from Ks 0.2 million to Ks 0.5 million.
