Licences to invest in Myanmar special economic zones will soon be issued at One-Stop Service Centres within the zones.
According to the special economic zone by-law, this provision is being introduced for the convenience of investors.
One-Stop Services Centres in SEZs will provide services such as company registration, visa application, labour registration and import and export services in a single location.
However, the service centres will not issue SEZ licences. The centres are meant for investors who need licences or permission from certain ministries to run businesses in SEZs. SEZ licence are only granted by the Myanmar Investment Commission.
The labour ministry, construction ministry, commerce ministry, finance ministry, customs department, revenue department, immigration department, Myanma Port Authority and Yangon Region government will all provide licence services in SEZs. Later, more ministries and departments are expected to be included.
