2 Myanmar carriers to launch flights to Taoyuan in January

Two carriers from Myanmar will begin services between Yangon and Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport on Jan. 26, the Civil Aeronautics Administration (CAA) said yesterday.

Myanmar Airways International plans to operate four weekly round-trip flights between Yangon and Taoyuan — on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Sunday — flying Airbus A320s.

Flight 8M 7703 is scheduled to depart Yangon at 12:15 p.m. and arrive in Taoyuan at 5:30 p.m., while flight 8M 7704 will leave Taoyuan an hour later and arrive in Yangon at 9:15 p.m., according to the carrier’s website.

Taiwan is 1.5 hours ahead of Myanmar.

Myanmar National Airlines will offer three round trips on the same route — on Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday — flying Boeing 737-800 jets, the CAA said.

Flight UB 005 will depart Yangon at 8 a.m. and arrive in Taoyuan at 1:25 p.m., while flight UB 006 will leave Taoyuan at 2:25 p.m. and arrive in Yangon at 5:20 p.m., the schedule on its website shows.

Currently, only Taiwan-based China Airlines operates flights between Taoyuan and Yangon, offering six round-trip services each week on Boeing 737-800s.

Far East International Travel Service Co., a sales agent for Myanmar Airways International in Taiwan, said it plans to offer tour products with the launch of the new services.
