Myanmar, Malaysia to establish joint commission for economic and technical cooperation

BAGAN__ The Myanmar and Malaysia governments will establish a joint commission for economic, scientific, and technical cooperation later this year, according to Myanmar’s foreign ministry.

A memorandum of agreement between the two government to form the commission was signed at Aureum Palace Hotel,Bagan, on Friday during the ASEAN Foreign Ministers’ Meeting (Retreat).

The agreement was signed by Wunna Maung Lwin, Union Minister for Foreign Affairs, and Anifah Aman, Malaysia’s foreign secretary.

Also present at the ceremony were Tin Oo Lwin, deputy minister for foreign affairs, and senior officials from both ministries.

Under this agreement, the two countries will establish a joint commission to facilitate consulation and cooperation in the economic, scientific, and technical areas. The agreement aims to expand and enhance bilateral relation and cooperation on a lasting and long-term basis.
