Myanmar MJETS Business Aviation Centre has received 14 jets in from other countries it its first month of operation, it said.
Two were air-ambulances to transport patients from Myanmar to hospitals in other countries and the rest were private business jets, the company said.
The aviation centre opened at Yangon International Airport on August 1, offerring passengers flying to or from Myanmar on private jets to by-pass the crowds at the international terminal and use its own facility for immigration, customs and other services.
“Starting from the opening day … to August 30, 14 private planes landed and used Myanmar MJETS. These included private planes of businesspeople coming to Myanmar for business and air-ambulance that came to Myanmar to take patients abroad,” said Ohn Myint founder and chief executive of Wah Wah, a family run enterprise that has a 50 per cent stake in the business.
It also offers private planes for charter and air ambulance services.
Wah Wah’s partner in the venture is Thailand’s Mjets, which is owned by Minor International’s founder William Heinecke and Kirit Shah, the entrepreneur behind Precious Shipping. The joint venture has won support from Myanma Airways, the national carrier of Myanmar and Myanmar’s Department of Civil Aviation.
MJETS owns and operates a fleet of Gulfstream GV, Cessna Citation CJ3, Cessna Citation X and a Cessna Citation Bravo with an optional medical configuration. Moreover, MJETS is currently managing six executive jets of customers, a Gulfstream G650, two Gulfstream G550s, two Gulfstream G200s and another Cessna Citation Bravo.
MJETS executive chairman Jaiyavat Navaraj said that the company would introduce similar services now available at Don Mueang International Airport. He expects private jet flights passing through Myanmar, especially Yangon, to double to 600 in the third year of the company’s operation.
Services already available at Myanmar MJETS Business Aviation Centre include a business aviation centre, business and conference facilities, pilots’ briefing room, baggage service, and other aircraft services like refueling, handling, washing and cleaning. Hotel reservations and tours can be booked at the site as well.
