MOSB to Set Up Supply Base in Mawlamyine to Serve Myanmar’s Oil, Gas

Myanmar Offshore Supply Base (MOSB) Ltd., a subsidiary of Singapore-based 2 Fish Pte. Ltd., whose commercial activities and business development are centered in its head office in Yangon, Myanmar, has embarked on its latest and most ambitious venture at the start of 2015, the company said Thursday.

Its pioneering investment at Mawlamyine (formerly known as Moulmein) in Mon state covers an area of over 193 acres onshore with some 46 acres of prime river front land to serve the Myanmar oil and gas industry. The fully integrated MOSB port is dedicated to providing a wide range of services to the operators of oil and gas fields in the waters off the coast in the Bay of Bengal. As its natural depth is between feet 26 to 42 feet (8 to 13 meters), no dredging is needed in this deep water harbor whose under current averages six knots.

The concept of the marine supply base is specifically tailored to cater for the fast-growing energy industry in Mawlamyine, the fourth largest city in Myanmar and the capital of Mon state. MOSB Ltd. has spared no effort to produce a carefully designed master plan that includes wide-ranging infrastructure development, improvements to existing air, sea, road and telecommunication linkages as well as educational, medical and social services to enhance the network for business growth and economic development to benefit the entire country.

The Myanmar Offshore Supply Base will be built in stages after the groundbreaking ceremony in early March. The massive offshore supply base caters mainly to confirmed oil and gas operators brought in by the Myanmar Oil and Gas Enterprise (MOGE). In tandem with the federal administrative move led by the Ministry of Energy, the Mon state government is fully supportive of encouraging foreign investments to improve the local economy and upgrade living standards for the people.

The group parent company, MOSB Ltd.’s core businesses are ownership and management of freight, logistics and other infrastructural assets. In serving the nation and international markets, MOSB Ltd.’s strategy is to provide world-class products and services at very competitive prices. Its team comprises highly qualified individuals who are well trained to provide the best for clients.

Its mission is to grow business exponentially and become one of the major organizations in Myanmar that offer career opportunities to the citizens. The MOSB Ltd. group believes that education and skills have to be matched with the needs of the growing economy. It holds dearly to the notion of national integration and unity through equal opportunity for employment and job advancement for the eligible workforce in the country.

Tasked with its newest and most challenging enterprise, the Myanmar Offshore Supply Base in Mawlamyine, the conglomerate is concentrating on vital offshore and onshore services to support the burgeoning oil and gas industry in Myanmar which has taken off in a big way. MOSB Ltd. is confident that increased job creation and business activities will stimulate and improve the national economy in the long run.
