Myanmar Becomes Eighth Country To Get Android One

Android One is Google’s effort to provide customers with compelling and affordable smartphones that still offer a stock experience. The initiative debuted in India before coming to Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Indonesia, the Philippines, and Turkey. Today Google announced that Myanmar will be the next country to take part.

Google is partnering with Cherry Mobile to provide the Cherry Mobile One (how’s that for combining names?) in the country. The device, which is already available in the Phillipines, comes with Android 5.1.1 and two years of updates. An MTK 6582m 1.3GHz quad-core processor and a 1700mAh battery power the experience. There’s 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal memory, and a microSD card slot. A 5MP camera sits on the back, and it’s joined by a 2MP shooter on the front, directly above the 4.5-inch 854×480 display. One user has already taken to Google+ with photos (credited to Myat Min Soe).

When the Cherry Mobile One comes to Myanmar on June 26th, prices will start at Ks109,000.
