Currently its main office is in Pabedan township on Strand Road, but given increasing traffic levels, this is inconvenient for many people, said deputy finance minister Dr Maung Maung Thein at the opening on September 8.
The new office was arrange with assistance of the Road Transportation Administration Department, and will be outfitted with six computers, he said.
Dr Maung Maung Thein, who is also the head of the Insurance Business Regulatory Board, said that insurance has gradually been improved, pointing out that three foreign insurance companies are now allowed to operate in special economic zones, as well as a new health insurance program being introduced.
“This year has been unique because there are monthly improvements,” he claimed.
The new office, in the Road Transportation Administration Department compound, can service vehicles that are under 2 tonnes. Those that are over the limit must still travel to the Pabedan township headquarters.
Myanma Insurance has a list of 14 townships that can use the new office.
Daw Win Win Than, assistant manager from new insurance office, said the goal is to cut down on time spent waiting, offering quicker service.
