True IDC Launches Myanmar Data Centre

Thailand-based data centre and cloud services provider True IDC has launched a data centre in Myanmar last week.

The new data centre, which is touted to meet the growing demands of Myanmar’s emerging business community, marks True IDC’s fifth data centre in the ASEAN region.

True IDC, which began offering IT and data centre services in Thailand in 2003, said it plans further expansion into ASEAN markets to tap the region’s growing digital economy.

“[The data centre] will help companies in Myanmar get the best possible return on their IT investment by improving operational performance, reliability and security,” said Thanasorn Jaidee, General Manager of True IDC Thailand.

“The demand in Myanmar for data centre solutions is growing, and … We are here to increase the competitiveness of Myanmar companies by giving them access to the best technology available.”

Within the next three years APAC cloud-computing usage is forecast to outpace the rest of the world. The spending on data centre and cloud services within the ASEAN Economic Community (AEC) is growing at a compound annual growth rate of 13 percent, with a projected value of $8 billion by 2018.

“Thousands of customers in Thailand are already using True IDC products and services, and we will build an equally strong business in Myanmar,” said Myo Tun, general manager of True IDC Myanmar.

“True IDC is now in Myanmar to help businesses improve their efficiency and help Myanmar leapfrog IT infrastructure. A wide range of businesses will save money, improve efficiency and reduce risk by working with True IDC.”

True IDC operates four data centres in Thailand and works with firms in telecommunications, banking, retail, logistics, healthcare, e-commerce and numerous other sectors. It also works with global IT leaders such as Microsoft, Amazon Web Services, Huawei and Google.
