20,000 Yangon driving licences revoked

Yangon traffic police say officers at congested junctions are taking action against drivers using the wrong side of the road and have revoked more than 20,000 driving licences for violations.

Major Myo Aung Myint said the public could inform on poor drivers, adding that violators could face up to one month in prison under the new traffic law.

“The public send us photos of people driving the wrong way down roads. We are taking action about it,” said the officer.

He said car owners offended more frequently than bus drivers.
