Solar Home System to light up Myanmar rural aeras

The Rural Development Department and Brighterlite Norway AS signed a memorandum of understanding on the implementation of a solar home system project in rural areas yesterday.

According to the MoU, the project includes enabling rural people to have access to solar home system on fair and reasonable prices within five years as of the signing date, ensuring a 70% SHS coverage across the country following the delivery of SHS numbering 2 million to 3 million until 2019, the installment of three types of SHS at rural homes and the establishment of information and service centres. During the signing ceremony, Director-General U Khant Zaw of the department and Mr. Martin Hamann of Brigtherlite Norway AS inked the MoU.—
