Myanmar’s G Bank taps Infosys to power retail banking

Myanmar-based Glory Farmer Development Bank (G Bank) has selected Indian IT firm Infosys to digitalise its retail banking business.

The lender will deploy Finacle Digital Banking solution, developed by Infosys-subsidiary EdgeVerve Systems.

Finacle is designed as an omnichannel enabled enterprise-class internet banking solution. It will enable G Bank to automate front and back-office operations to improve efficiency.

The solution will also expedite the launch of new product offerings and provide the lender with greater control over operations.

Furthermore, G Bank can use Finacle to secure customer insights, leverage open APIs and cross-channel capabilities to improve services.

According to the company, financial institutions across 100 countries have opted for Finacle to serve its customers.

G Bank CIO Daw Hnin Thidar Ko said: “G Bank, established in 2018 is aiming to support comprehensive economic development in Myanmar through reliable, inclusive and convenient banking services.

“To power our mission and our growth strategy in the coming years, in an increasingly competitive environment, we felt the need for a modern platform.

“With its growing deployment base in Myanmar, including some of the largest banks, Finacle is a proven solution for our needs.”

Finacle’s local business partner ACE Data Systems will support the the implementation process.

Earlier this year, South Africa-based Standard Bank selected Infosys Finacle Mobile Teller solution to digitise its branches.

In October, American fintech Biz2Credit partnered Infosys to strengthen digital banking ecosystem.
