Tatmadaw names new govt officials
The Tatmadaw (military) on February 1 announced the list of some members of its newly formed government, hours after it declared a state of emergency allowing it to replace the previous National League for Democracy-led government.
In an announcement late on February 1, the military said it reinstated all the judges of the Supreme Court and high courts in the region and states. It also reinstated the members of the highly respected Anti-Corruption Commission of Myanmar and retained the members of the Myanmar Human Rights Commission.
The newly appointed members of the new government are:
- U Wunna Maung Lwin, Foreign Minister
- Lt Gen Soe Htut, Minister for Home Affairs and Union Govt Office
- Gen Mya Htun Oo, Minister for Defence
- Lt Gen Tun Tun Naung, Minster for Border Affairs
- U Win Shein, Minister for Planning, Finance and Industry
- U Aung Naing Oo, Minister for Investment and Foreign Economic Relations.
- U Ko Ko Naing, Minister for International Cooperation
- U Chit Hlaing, Minister for Information
- U Ko Ko, Minister for Religious Affairs
- U Myint Kyaing, Minister for Labour, Immigration and Population
- Dr. Thet Khaing Win, Minister for Health and Sports
- U Than Swe, Chair of Union Civil Service Board
